TWIN-CITY    MARATHON

Kyzz FM introduces this event to attract those who have an interest in developing their skills in long distance running either;

  • For the competition
  • Just to keep fit
  • For fun
  • For pride
  • For the entertainment, OR
  • To raise funds for charity.

Communities around mining companies always feel aggrieved for allegedly being marginalized.This event would be seen by the surrounding communities as a step in the direction of helping them develop their lesser known sports.
    

MISSION
To provide opportunities for the training of local athletes for international long distance and marathon events, contribute to the economic growth of the region and help in creating greater awareness for charity.

EVENT OVERVIEW
With a field capacity of 5000 participants from the 10 regions of Ghana, Africa and some international countries and 50,000 spectators lining the streets of Sekondi/Takoradi on race day, we envisage the maiden edition of the TWIN-CITY  Marathon would be one of the largest single-day outdoor event in Takoradi and maybe Ghana.
The TWIN-CITY Marathon course is over 26.2miles(42.195Km) and starts from Sekondi Sports Stadium meandering through the communities of Kojokrom, Sekondi, Kansaworado, Anaji, Kwesimintsim, Apremdu, looping around the Market Circle and then heading north to end at the Jubilee Park.

Participants would run in corrals;

  1. First        corral                           starting           8.30am
  2. Second   corral                           starting           9.00am
  3. 10Km     corral                           starting           7.00am

There would be;

  1. Water/Aid/Gatorade(energy drink) stations every one mile manned by experienced marathoners and volunteers
  2. Cooling stations with ice cubes and sponge
  3. Closed lanes for runners manned by Ghana Police Service,
  4. Medical stations positioned along the course and staffed by premier multi-disciplinary medical team with helicopter/ambulances on call,
  5. Runners would be greeted with coconut upon finishing.
  6. Pre-race pasta party and post-race party.
  7. Trace cars to monitor progress of the race and for live media reports
  8. Communication Command Center for event and race coordination on event day
